When I’m using solutions that contain proteins, how often should I perform a maintenance routine on my microplate washer?
Solutions such as bovine serum albumin (BSA) which contain proteins will compromise your microplate washer performance over time. We recommend rinsing the system daily with an enzyme detergent solution followed by deionized water. On a weekly or monthly basis, flush with 0.1-0.5N sodium hydroxide (NaOH), followed by neutralization with an equivalent normality (0.1-0.5N) of hydrochloric acid (HCl). Rinse with deionized water to remove the HCl. These procedures are outlined in the Preventative Maintenance section of your Operator’s Manual.
